Battery Life for Resound Hearing Aids – What to Expect
Resound hearing aids using disposable batteries typically offer a battery life of 6 to 10 days for size 312 batteries and 6 to 14 days for size 13 batteries, depending on usage. The Receiver-in-Ear (RIE) models are an excellent option for those who prefer not to rely on rechargeable hearing aids. However, it’s important to note that Resound’s latest AI-powered features, part of their Intelligent Augmented technology, are only available in the rechargeable Vivia 60s miniRIE model.
As with all hearing aid models, battery performance may vary based on individual hearing loss, frequency of Bluetooth streaming, environmental noise levels, and daily usage patterns.
Rechargeability
The Vivia 5 microRIE rechargeable hearing aid offers exceptional battery performance with its built-in lithium-ion power cell. On a full charge, it provides up to 30 hours of use, with an average of 24 hours with regular Bluetooth streaming. Even with heavy audio streaming—up to half the day—you can still enjoy around 20 hours of reliable performance. Need a quick boost? A 10-minute fast charge gives you approximately 2.7 hours of additional use.
This advanced hearing aid comes with a durable, travel-ready charging case featuring LED battery indicators and a built-in power bank. The case stores enough power to deliver up to three full charges, making it ideal for those always on the move.
Connectivity
The Resound Vivia 5 hearing aids feature cutting-edge Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio technology, offering enhanced wireless connectivity and high-quality audio streaming with compatible iOS and Android devices. Unlike older Bluetooth versions, LE Audio makes device pairing easier and introduces Auracast™, a new feature that will eventually enable direct access to public audio broadcasts—such as airport or train station announcements—without the need for manual pairing.
While Auracast compatibility is future-ready, it may take some time before it becomes widely available in public venues. In the meantime, Resound Vivia 5 supports hands-free calling on iPhones (iPhone 11 and newer with iOS 18+) and select Android smartphones (Android 13+). The app
The Resound Smart 3D app is the perfect companion for Vivia 5 hearing aids, offering convenient remote control of key features such as volume adjustment, program settings, noise reduction, and speech focus. The app also displays battery status, helps locate lost hearing aids, and includes Resound Assist for real-time remote support from your audiologist. While Vivia 5 hearing aids deliver excellent performance on their own, the app enhances personalisation and ease of use, especially when you’re on the go.
With Resound Assist, you can access video consultations or request remote hearing aid adjustments without needing an in-clinic visit. Your audiologist can send updates directly to your hearing aids, saving you time and effort.
The Vivia 5 also supports a Tinnitus Sound Generator (TSG), allowing your provider to customise calming masking sounds tailored to your needs.
