The Virto Q50 has now been replaced by the Virto V50 which you can read about here.

Learn more about the Virto V50

Launched: October 2012

Virto Q50

Replacement for: Phonak Cassia (Custom)

The Phonak Virto Q50 is one of their new range of ITE (In the Ear) hearing aids. It has four different custom styles, ITE (In the Ear), ITC (In the Canal) and CIC (Completely in Canal) and IIC (Invisible in Canal) The IIC is also referred to as the Virto Q Nano. You can take a look at the full range of Phonak hearing aids here

The Virto Q is available at three different levels of technology with the Q50 being the lowest. It is still available in the same range of colours but has fewer channels and features than the more advanced models in this range.

These hearing aids have many of the same key features as the Cassia but whereas the Cassia worked on the previous ‘Spice’ platform, the Virto Q50 contains the faster and more advanced Quest processing chip

The new Quest platform has has led to the introduction of Binaural VoiceStream. This means that your hearing aids will now communicate with each other, sharing information to ensure you always receive the clearest signal. Thanks to this new technology, Phonak have also been able to add the Acclimatisation Manager. This feature detects the different listening environments you are in and automatically adjusts the amplification.

As mentioned before, many of Phonak’s key features have now been improved thanks to the introduction of the Quest platform technology.

12 Channels

As each channel processes a range of frequencies, more channels mean the hearing aids can be tuned more precisely

Soundrecover

This improves the wearer’s ability to hear the higher frequency sounds

Ultrazoom

This feature improves both noise cancellation and speech capture by using binaural microphone technology

Soundflow

This feature detects even the slightest changes in your listening environment and smoothly adapts your hearing aids program to maintain listening comfort.

Whistleblock, Noiseblock and Windblock

Phonak’s ‘block’ features are all designed to keep out the noises you don’t want to hear and leave the sounds you do much clearer

Acoustically Optimised Vent (AOV)

This is designed to reduce the blocked up feeling that some users get (occlusion).

Despite being the most basic of the Virto range, many of the Q50 models are still compatible with Phonak’s wireless accessories.

The Virto Q50 Nano (IIC) is not compatible with the following accessories. It does, however, have its own remote control known as the MiniControl. It is a discreet little device that is small enough to fit on a key ring.

Phonak Compilot

This device is used with the other Phonak accessories. It is a streamer that can be worn around the neck and will then relay the sound from your other devices into the hearing aids.

Phonak TV Link S

This device is connected to your television and will send the sound through the Compilot into the hearing aids. It can also be used as a charger for the Compilot.

Phonak MyPilot

This is a simple, one touch display screen remote control that allows you to adjust things such as programme settings and volume levels

KeyPilot

This small, discreet remote control can be attached to a key ring

RemoteMic

The RemoteMic can help you hear normal conversation in a noisy environment by streaming the other person’s voice into your hearing aids.
