Tympanic Membrane |
|
The boundary between the ear canal and
the middle ear is the tympanic membrane. This is also frequently called
the eardrum which is a misnomer because a drum consists not only of the
membrane but also of the supporting walls and the air inside. Nevertheless,
the tympanic membrane is a thin, almost oval, slightly broader above than
below, forming an angle of about 55 degrees with the floor of the ear canal.
