About Puretone
In 1976, disillusioned with working for a large multi-national electronics firm, M. J. Choudhry decided to go it alone. From these humble beginnings, Puretone has become one of the UK's premier manufacturers of quality hearing aids, tinnitus devices and faceplate kits, with products being exported to over 90 countries worldwide.
In 1987, expansion forced the Tonbridge-based company to move to larger premises in the historic town of Rochester, where economic growth continued unabated. With help from his son Baz, the company began to take shape. 1999 saw the opening of a second building - devoted entirely to the manufacture of earmoulds and custom shells - and in 2000 the original Rochester site was expanded to twice its size to cope with the ever-increasing demand.
Always at the forefront of technological breakthroughs, Puretone manufacture what is possibly the smallest hearing instrument in the world today - the Ultra CIC 2010. A complete range of hearing instruments are manufactured at the Rochester facility by a select team of dedicated professionals, including a 100% digital custom-made device, and Puretone’s own range of digitally programmable devices.
Puretone have been one of the key players in the technological revolution that is In-Ear-Monitoring, supplying custom-made devices for legendary performers such as David Bowie, Meatloaf, Lulu, George Michael , Rod Stewart and many others. Francis Rossi, singer and guitarist with Status Quo said “...(Puretone Micro Monitors) not only protect our hearing, but allow us to do what we do best - putting 100% effort into our music”
Puretone has won many awards over the last 25 years, including Kent Exporter of the Year (1995), Kent Business Personality of the Year (Jay Choudhry - 1995) and in 1996, the prestigious Queen’s Award for Export Achievement.
