and you'll be on the road to recovering your hearing.
Before proceeding it's important that you're honest with yourself
about any of the usual symptoms of hearing loss. Simply answer the following
4 questions:
Click Yes or No
These simple four questions are taken from a typical hearing self check.
Answering yes to one doesn't mean you have a problem - answering
yes to more than one could indicate that you have some hearing loss.

How to help your self-confidence and social
life
By Colin Forrest, Director of THAAC
Hearing loss is a gradual process that develops over a period of
25 to 30 years. By the time you reach the age of 50 to 60 there
can be enough deterioration to interfere with conversation. A hearing aid
can help you regain most of your hearing and allow you
to regain your self-confidence and social life.
"The difference my hearing aids have
made to my life has changed it completely - I wish I'd got them years ago!"

Causes and Symptoms of Hearing Loss
It
is typical for people with a mild to moderate hearing loss to be unaware
of their problem, even though family and friends are quite aware of it.
Most hearing professionals believe that hearing loss in older adults is
the accumulation of two or more causes, such as:
- Exposure to loud noises
- Family history
Hearing loss can affect you in several ways, including
- Preventing the quality of life you're use to
- Restrict your ability to interact with others
- Prevent you from hearing important information
- Cause misunderstandings
- Heighten stress
- Cause unnecessary fatigue
- Filter out the subtle sounds of nature
Most of your hearing loss can be improved effectively
by individually selected, prescribed and fitted hearing aids.
Regaining your hearing
A
hearing care professional is trained in the identification of hearing
loss. They are also knowledgeable in the selection, fitting, and
proper use of hearing aids, as well as the servicing of these small instruments.
Throughout the UK hearing care professionals are licensed, registered,
and/or hold permits to dispense hearing instruments. From your hearing care
professional, you'll learn if you have a hearing loss,
and if so, how much. You'll also find out what can be done to improve your
hearing. You will learn if hearing aids can help and the type and style
best suited for your hearing.
